DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF LIVING THINGS IN THE ENVIRONMENT

WHAT IS A LIVING THING?

Living things are things that are alive.  Living things can grow, feed and reproduce (make more of them/have babies).

All plants and animals are living things.  If a plant or animal dies, it was once living.

WHAT ARE NON-LIVING THINGS?

Non-living things are objects that do not grow, feed or reproduce.  Non-living things have never been alive.

Books, toys and rocks are all examples of non-living things.
